What is the hora loca?
In short
Hora loca
The hora loca (“crazy hour”) is a block of the party designed to lift the energy on the dance floor, with high-energy music, entertainers or costumed characters, and party props. It's part of almost every wedding party in Peru and of quinceañeras too, and it comes in when the party starts to dip.
The full guide: Hora loca ideas and what to ask before you hire
It usually combines three things:
- High-energy music, from the DJ or the band.
- Entertainers and characters: dancers, people in costume, stilt walkers or drummers who come down to the floor and pull guests in to dance.
- Party props (cotillón): hats, masks, wigs, glasses, light-up necklaces and bracelets.
It works once the dance floor is already open, not at the start of the party. It’s a custom, not a requirement: some celebrations skip it. At a quinceañera, pick props for every age, because grandparents and little cousins share the same floor.
When to schedule it, ideas so it isn’t like every other one, whether to hire it or do it yourself and what to ask before you hire are all in the full guide.
