There is no national price for a civil wedding in Peru. Every municipality sets its own fee schedule, and the gap is not small change: the cheapest ceremony we could verify in an official source costs S/ 113.00 (Peruvian soles) in Trujillo, and the most expensive on the same list, S/ 1,800.00 in San Isidro. Here’s what the bill is made of, what five municipalities that do publish their rates actually charge, which documents you pay for separately, and the cheapest route of all.
Every figure in this guide comes from the official page or document of the entity named, and each one links to its source. We checked them on September 19, 2026. Fee schedules change without notice, so confirm with your municipality before you book a date. Most sources are in Spanish.
Jump to your municipality: Lima (Cercado) · Trujillo · Santiago de Surco · San Isidro · Miraflores
Or straight to what the municipality does not charge for: the certified copies of your certificates · the premarital medical certificate · the newspaper notice
What the bill is made of
Four blocks, and the municipality only charges for two of them:
- The processing fee, or the opening of the pliego matrimonial (marriage file). It pays for the review of your paperwork. Some municipalities charge it separately (San Isidro, Surco) and others fold it into the ceremony fee (Lima, Miraflores).
- The ceremony. This is what varies most, and it depends on three things: where (inside the municipal premises, in a special municipal venue, at your home or a private venue, inside or outside the district), which day (weekday or Saturday) and what time (during office hours or outside them). Saturday, off-site and outside office hours is always the priciest combination.
- The documents you bring from elsewhere: certified copies of your certificates and the certificado médico prenupcial (premarital medical certificate).
- Publishing the edicto (the public marriage notice) in a newspaper, which you pay to the newspaper, not to the municipality.
What each municipality charges
This table compares the cheapest and the priciest option each one publishes. In Surco and San Isidro you also add the processing fee, which has its own column; the last column already adds it in, and it is the least you can pay the municipality if you take its cheapest ceremony.
| Municipality | Processing / file | Cheapest ceremony | Priciest ceremony | Least you can pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trujillo | Included | S/ 113.00 | S/ 257.50 | S/ 113.00 |
| Lima (Cercado) | Included | S/ 198.10 | S/ 530.60 | S/ 198.10 |
| Santiago de Surco | S/ 155.20 | S/ 120.00 | S/ 1,500.00 | S/ 275.20 |
| Miraflores | Included | S/ 425.50 | S/ 1,669.60 | S/ 425.50 |
| San Isidro | S/ 341.00 | S/ 154.60 | S/ 1,800.00 | S/ 495.60 |
Not even that minimum is the whole bill: it is missing the certified copies, the premarital medical certificate and the newspaper notice, which the municipality does not charge for.
Municipalidad de Lima (Cercado de Lima, the historic center)
Its civil marriage page publishes the TUPA schedule (the municipality’s official list of procedures and fees) and does not charge separately for opening the file:
| Ceremony | Fee |
|---|---|
| On municipal premises, Monday to Friday, during office hours | S/ 198.10 |
| On municipal premises, Monday to Friday, outside office hours | S/ 248.00 |
| Off-site, Monday to Saturday, during office hours | S/ 468.80 |
| Off-site, Monday to Saturday, outside office hours | S/ 530.60 |
Separately, as non-exclusive services, it rents the reception hall of the Women and Family Office (S/ 300.00) or the one at City Hall (S/ 850.00), both booked 15 business days ahead, plus space for catering (S/ 50.00) or decorations (S/ 100.00).
Municipalidad de Trujillo
Its guide to getting married is the only one on this list that prices the medical exam and the ceremony in the same document. In the first two rows the guide adds a second line to the fee—S/ 50.00 at the Av. España premises and S/ 140.00 at another municipal venue—and gives the total on the right, which is what you end up paying:
| Ceremony | Total |
|---|---|
| Av. España 742 premises, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00 | S/ 113.00 |
| Av. España 742 premises, outside office hours and Saturdays | S/ 147.50 |
| Another municipal venue, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00 | S/ 238.00 |
| Another municipal venue, outside office hours and Saturdays | S/ 257.50 |
| At home or another venue in the Trujillo district, Monday to Friday | S/ 171.50 |
| At home or another venue in the district, outside office hours and Saturdays | S/ 209.80 |
| In other districts of the province, Monday to Friday | S/ 190.00 |
| In other districts of the province, outside office hours and Saturdays | S/ 249.90 |
Two details that Lima does not share: Trujillo asks for a certificado de soltería (proof of single status) issued by Reniec, the national registry, no more than 30 days old, and a birth certificate less than two months old.
Municipalidad de Santiago de Surco
Surco splits the two charges. Its marriage leaflet —the file is dated September 27, 2024—charges S/ 155.20 for the marriage file and, on top of that, the ceremony:
| Ceremony | Fee |
|---|---|
| Wedding hall, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 16:00 | S/ 120.00 |
| Wedding hall, Monday to Friday, at 17:00 and 18:00 | S/ 361.00 |
| Wedding hall, Saturdays, 9:00 to 13:00 | S/ 487.00 |
| Outside the hall, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 16:00, within the district | S/ 645.00 |
| Outside the hall, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 16:00, outside the district | S/ 815.00 |
| Off municipal premises, Saturdays 14:00 to 16:00, within the district | S/ 780.00 |
| Off municipal premises, Saturdays 14:00 to 16:00, outside the district | S/ 980.00 |
| Off municipal premises, Saturdays, in outlying districts | S/ 1,500.00 |
So the cheapest combination in Surco comes to S/ 275.20 between file and ceremony. Changing the date or time later costs S/ 15.80, and the file is opened at least one month and at most four months before the wedding.
Municipalidad de San Isidro
San Isidro’s page on gob.pe, the Peruvian state’s official platform, was updated on February 23, 2026, and is the most detailed of the lot. It charges S/ 341.00 as a processing fee for the marriage application and then, by place and time:
| Ceremony | Fee |
|---|---|
| By videoconference, 1 hour | S/ 154.60 |
| Municipal premises, 1 hour, Monday to Friday 16:00 to 19:00, max. 10 people | S/ 160.00 |
| Parque Tamayo pergola, 1 hour, Monday to Friday | S/ 500.00 |
| Off municipal premises, within the district, Monday to Friday | S/ 778.00 |
| Municipal library multipurpose room, 2 hours, Monday to Friday | S/ 986.00 |
| Parque Tamayo pergola, 2 hours, Monday to Friday | S/ 1,000.00 |
| Outside the district, Monday to Friday | S/ 1,200.00 |
| Parque Tamayo pergola, 2 hours with a marquee, Monday to Friday | S/ 1,300.00 |
| Off municipal premises, within the district, Saturdays | S/ 1,500.00 |
| Parque Tamayo pergola, 2 hours, Saturdays | S/ 1,500.00 |
| Outside the district, Saturdays | S/ 1,700.00 |
| Parque Tamayo pergola, 2 hours with a marquee, Saturdays | S/ 1,800.00 |
The videoconference option is real and sits in the official schedule: S/ 154.60 for one hour, Monday to Friday 16:00 to 20:00 or Saturdays 10:00 to 19:00. Added to the processing fee, it is the cheapest way to marry in San Isidro: S/ 495.60. Watch out for the one-hour room on municipal premises: no toast, no canapés, ten people maximum.
Municipalidad de Miraflores
Miraflores’ page on gob.pe, last changed on January 12, 2024, publishes a single scale that, it says, covers “the processing fee and the celebration of the marriage”:
| Ceremony | Fee |
|---|---|
| Casa Tovar, Monday to Friday 8:00 to 16:00, without a toast | S/ 425.50 |
| Casa Tovar, Monday to Friday 8:00 to 16:00, with a toast | S/ 506.50 |
| Salón del Consejillo, Saturdays 17:00 to 20:00 | S/ 661.00 |
| Municipal assembly hall, Saturdays 17:00 to 20:00 | S/ 771.10 |
| Private venue within the district, Monday to Friday | S/ 881.60 |
| Private venue within the district, Saturdays | S/ 1,054.70 |
| Parque Reducto N.º 2 bandstand, Saturdays, with toast and canapés | S/ 1,341.00 |
| Parque Reducto N.º 2 bandstand, Saturdays, with toast, canapés and a marquee | S/ 1,665.00 |
| Gardens at El Redondo and Tres Picos beach, Saturdays | S/ 1,665.00 |
| Private venue outside the district, Saturdays | S/ 1,669.60 |
What the municipality does not charge for
The certified copies of your certificates
Each of you hands in a certified copy of your birth certificate, and in some cases of a previous marriage or death certificate. Reniec charges for them like this, according to its procedure on gob.pe (last updated July 16, 2026):
- Online: S/ 10.30. You check that the record is in the system, pay by Yape (Peru’s mobile payment app), a BCP agent, Banco de la Nación or Págalo.pe, and print it. The file is generated only once, so download it with the printer ready.
- In person: S/ 12.00, using tax code 06637, at a Reniec service center.
That’s S/ 20.60 online for the two of you. If your record isn’t digitized at Reniec, you have to request it from the municipality where you were registered, at its own rate.
The premarital medical certificate
Transparency is worse here. Of the five municipalities in this guide, only Trujillo publishes the price: S/ 50.00 per person, S/ 100.00 for the couple, at the Municipal Medical Center on Jr. Zela 506. Lima points you to its online platform without naming an amount; Miraflores says where its Municipal Medical Center is and that results are valid for 30 days, but not what it costs; San Isidro names its Policlínico and its Medical Center, also without a rate. Call and ask before you go: it’s a payment nobody warns you about.
The newspaper notice
The notice of the intended marriage is published in a newspaper, and that price is not a public fee: each newspaper sets it. We found no official published rate, so we won’t give you a figure; ask two or three for a quote. Two things to keep in mind:
- If one of you lives in another district, that municipality also posts the notice, and usually charges for it. Miraflores says so outright: the other partner files the notice at their own municipality “after payment.”
- The law allows another route. Article 250 of the Civil Code, as it stands today, says that “the notice may alternatively be published through digital media permitted by law that are freely and permanently accessible.” Ask your municipality whether it applies this.
The cheap route: the community civil wedding
The matrimonio civil comunitario is the cheapest way to marry, and it is just as valid: the municipality gathers dozens of couples for a single ceremony and charges little or nothing. Trujillo puts it in writing in its guide: “community civil weddings are exempt from the cost of the premarital medical certificate and of the ceremony venue.”
What you can’t do is plan it a year ahead: the dates change every year and each municipality sets its own, usually around Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, the start of spring or the district’s anniversary, and they’re announced only weeks in advance. Our guide to the community civil wedding in Lima has which districts held one, what they charged and how to sign up for the next.
Is there such a thing as a “notarial” civil wedding?
Yes, and it is more recent than most people think. Ley 31643, published in the official gazette El Peruano on December 15, 2022, amended the Civil Code “to empower notaries to celebrate civil marriage, (…) without prejudice to the powers granted to other officials.” With that change:
- A couple may declare their intention “before a notary of the province where either of them lives” (article 248).
- The marriage “is celebrated publicly, at the municipality or at the notary’s office, before the mayor or the notary who received the declaration” (article 259).
- “The notarial function of celebrating a marriage cannot be delegated,” and a marriage may also be celebrated before the parish priest or the local Ordinary by delegation of the mayor (article 260).
- Article 266 still bars any public official or employee from charging a fee for processing or celebrating a marriage, and adds that “this prohibition does not reach the civil marriage celebrated by a notary.” In other words: the notary’s office does charge.
That it works in practice is documented by Reniec itself, which on January 23, 2025 announced a system to register notarial marriage records online, piloted with notaries in Tacna and Ica; until then they were recorded on paper and couriered to Lima.
What we can’t tell you is the price. Notarial fees are not a public tax and we found no official schedule: you have to ask the notary’s office for a quote.
What we could not confirm
- The premarital medical certificate in Lima, Miraflores and San Isidro. None of them publishes an amount.
- The price of the newspaper notice. It depends on the paper; there is no official rate.
- The civil registry TUPA that Miraflores publishes on its own website (Decreto de Alcaldía 016-2020/MM) lists processing fees between S/ 69.50 and S/ 112.10, far below the scale on its gob.pe page. We don’t know whether these are different concepts or whether one of the two is out of date: ask at the cashier what you will actually be charged.
- What a notary’s office charges to celebrate the marriage.
What people ask us most about the bill
Which ceremony is the cheapest at any municipality?
The cheapest combination is always the same one: on the municipal premises, Monday to Friday, during office hours. Saturday, off-site and outside office hours is the priciest, and the gap is not small change: in Santiago de Surco the ceremony runs from S/ 120.00 in the wedding hall on a weekday to S/ 1,500.00 off-site on a Saturday in an outlying district.
Does what I pay the municipality cover the whole process?
No. Three costs sit outside it. Certified copies of your birth certificates, which Reniec charges S/ 10.30 for online or S/ 12.00 in person, each. The premarital medical certificate, which of the five municipalities we checked only Trujillo prices: S/ 50.00 per person. And publishing the edicto, the public marriage notice, which you pay to the newspaper.
Can you really get married by videoconference?
In San Isidro you can, and it sits in the official fee schedule: S/ 154.60 for one hour, Monday to Friday 16:00 to 20:00 or Saturdays 10:00 to 19:00. Added to the S/ 341.00 processing fee, it is the cheapest way to marry in that district, S/ 495.60. It is the only one of the five municipalities in this guide that offers it.
Does the marriage notice have to run in a printed newspaper?
The notice of the intended marriage is published in a newspaper and each paper sets its own price, because it isn’t a public fee. But article 250 of the Civil Code, as it stands today, says the notice “may alternatively be published through digital media permitted by law that are freely and permanently accessible.” Ask your municipality whether it applies this.
What the part after the paperwork costs
The paperwork is the cheap part. If you have a date and still need to sort out the rest, our guide to the requirements for a civil wedding in Lima tells you which documents expire and in what order to request them.
And for the celebration: with parati for weddings you put the invitation and the gift registry on one link and share it on WhatsApp. Creating, designing, publishing and sharing your celebration is free, with no plan and no subscription. Your guests RSVP and give gifts from their phone, by card or Yape, without creating an account. Big gifts can be split into shares so several guests go in together, and if you’d rather pool everything toward one goal—the honeymoon, the apartment—El Sueño (The Dream) gathers the contributions with a minimum you set. Your dashboard shows who confirmed and who gave what, so you can thank each guest.
